Woman, 25, drowns in Affram River

A 25-year-old woman has drowned at Ekye Amanfrom in the Affram Plains South District of the Eastern Region.

The body of Elizabeth Adwoa Asamoah Mensah was retrieved from the shores of the Affram River Sunday, May 20, 2018, by a joint team of NADMO and Police.

Some residents in the community allege that the deceased was suffering from suspected schizophrenia which when recurred cause her to express weird thoughts including that of suicide but she wad not taken seriously.

The deceased reportedly went missing on Saturday evening after hallucinating that some invisible people were pushing her into the river the previous night before the incident.

The Afram Plains South District Operations officer of the National Disaster Management Organization, NADMO, Mamfred Asiedu Doe tells Kasapa News, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue awaiting autopsy before body released to the family for burial.
