TRIVIAL misunderstanding between two women at Kubi-Kwantu, near Ampuyase in the Adansi South District of the Ashanti Region, over allegations of malicious gossip and peddling of falsehood, turned bloody, resulting in the death of 25-year-old Abena Agyeiwaa.

The deceased, a trader from Kubi-Kwantu, met her untimely death after her assailant, Ramatu Musah, stabbed her severally.

About 3pm on Saturday, February 11, 2012, the two close pals engaged in a fierce fight following a misunderstanding that ensued between them, DSP Mathew Asante, Obuasi Municipal Police Commander, told DAILY GUIDE.

According to the police chief, Abena Agyeiwaa, who owned a chamfer machine operated by her husband, went to the suspect’s house to ascertain the truth about an allegation of malicious gossip about her that was circulating in the village.

He narrated that the deceased was informed by the suspect’s uncle, Braimah Musah that her close friend, Ramatu, had been telling people that Agyeiwaa’s husband stole proceeds from the chamfer machine business. Ramatu did not take kindly to what her uncle told her friend.

This resulted in exchange of harsh words, leading to a fight between Agyeiwaa and Ramatu.

DSP Asante said Agyeiwaa, who could not match Ramatu Musah, slashed the upper part of the suspect’s eye with a knife she was wielding, to prevent further attacks.

Suspect Ramatu Musah, 32, chased Agyeiwaa with the said knife after retrieving it and managed to get hold of the deceased before stabbing her severally from the chest to the toe.

The police commander added that Abena Agyeiwaa died while being conveyed to the hospital, but witnesses apprehended the suspect and later handed her over to the police.

Ramatu has since been remanded into custody to allow police to conduct further investigations into the case. The body of Abena Agyeiwaa has been deposited at the morgue awaiting autopsy.
