An unidentified woman has reportedly been killed after she was hit by a passenger train near Gate 2 of the EMEF Estate, close to Community 25 in Tema.

The incident is said to have occurred at about 7 pm on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, while the train was operating its evening passenger shuttle service from Tema Harbour Station to Afienya.

According to a report by Adom TV, residents who witnessed the incident said the victim was attempting to cross the railway line when the train struck her.

One resident said they heard the train sounding its horn before seeing the victim attempt to cross the tracks.

“We were seated outside for fresh air when we heard that the train was blowing its horn. It sounded like it was signalling something. We then saw someone in an orange shirt trying to cross the train tracks. Unfortunately, the train struck the person, killing her instantly,” the resident said.

Another resident, who works at a salon nearby, said they (she and her customers) heard noise and shouts before coming outside to find out what had happened.

“I was working at my salon shop when I heard several people shouting, so, I came out to see what had happened. I saw that someone had been knocked down by the train,” she said.

The residents have called on the government to construct a footbridge to help people cross the railway line safely.

They indicated that schoolchildren regularly cross the tracks, putting their lives at risk.

One resident also claimed that the latest incident was not the first fatal train accident in the area, describing it as the third of such incident.
