Ajumako (C/R) Jan. 22 GNA - The Ajumako District Magistrate's court, on Wednesday, fined Esi Kormaah from Enyan Denkyira 200 Ghana Cedis for woefully causing harm to her daughter, Blessing Amoah. Kormaah, who pleaded, guilty would go to prison for eight months if she fails to pay the fine.
Prosecuting, Police chief Inspector Emmanuel Akorli, told the court presided over by Mr. Kwesi Boakye Enimil, that on January 13 this year at Enyan Denkyira, the accused person told the victim that she was becoming disrespectful.
The prosecution said the accused therefore took the 7-year-old primary one girl of Enyan Denkyira Methodist school, into her room and hit her head with a chisel and also pushed her down, resulting in the victim having deep cut on the chin. Chief Inspector Akorli said Blessing cried bitterly for help until a passer-by came to her rescue and reported the matter to the Enyan Denkyira Police who arrested Kormaah. He said the girl was still receiving treatment at the Nkwantanum Health Centre. Before imposing the fine, Mr Enimil remarked to the woman that, "You have caused a serious damage to your own biological daughter, what would have happened if she were someone's child." The court ordered that the father of the girl, who lived in the same town but was not in court, should have custody of her.
