Sunyani, Oct. 3, GNA - A Magistrate court in Sunyani has remanded Madam Patricia Kyeremaa into police custody for allegedly killing a 37-year-old mentally ill person.

Kyeremaa, a farmer, who plea was not taken, was ordered to re-appear on October 11.

Prosecuting, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Martin Dafeamephor told the court presided over by Mr Albert Zoogah that, the accused lived at Dumasua, near Sunyani whilst the deceased, Mensah Zigah, who was a mentally challenged person, had been roaming in the town and surrounding villages.

He said on September 21, this year the deceased strayed into the farm of Patricia, who raised an alarm that Zigah was threatening to kill her with a cutlass.

ASP Dafeamephor said five suspects now at large, rushed to the scene and together with the woman subjected Zigah to a severe beating. They also inflicted cutlass wounds on the deceased, resulting in his death, he added.

The prosecutor said an informant reported the incident to the police but before the police could reach the scene the suspects had moved the deceased's body to an unknown place.

ASP Dafeamephor said the suspects on hearing that police were investigating the case, bolted but Patricia was arrested, whilst attempting to flee the town.

The same court also remanded a 22-year-old trader, Adwoa Boakyewaah to re-appear on October 11, this year for setting fire to the room of her boy friend at Penkwase in Sunyani, burning all his personal belongings.

She pleaded not guilty to causing unlawful damage. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Emmanuel T. Boison told the court that the boy friend, Mr Amoah Simon, a mason, met the accused in Sunyani early this year and proposed loved to her. He said Simon had since been staying with Adwoa at Penkwasi as husband and wife but a misunderstanding over an issue arose between them in September after which Simon left for work.

Chief Inspector Boison said Adwoah took advantage of the complainant's absence and set fire to the room, burning all his personal belongings, including his working tools and his radio set and went into hiding.

Adwoa was however, arrested on September 28, this year at her hiding place in Sunyani and was charged with the offence after investigations.
