Woman in court for killing her boyfriend

Akim Oda (E/R), April 1, GNA - Esi Agyeiwaa, who allegedly killed her boyfriend by hitting his head with a pestle, has been remanded by the Akim Oda Magistrate Court.

Agyeiwaa, who pleaded not guilty, would reappear on April 4. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Adelaide Appiakorang told the court presided over by Mr Albert Owusu Annor that Agyeiwaa and the deceased, Mr Kwadwo Nyamekeh; a palm wine tapper, lived at Atiankama Nkwanta near Akim Manso in the Eastern Region.

Chief Inspector Appiakorang said the deceased also an akpeteshie distiller had a child with the accused.

She said at about 0700 on March 12, Agyeiwaa accompanied Mr Nyamekeh to Nyamebekyere where they stayed for two days. She said on March 15, Mr Nyamekeh was found dead under a tree at his distilling site by some farmers who made a report to the Akim Manso Police who proceeded to the scene.

Chief Inspector Appiakorang said at the scene the police detected a heap of dirty clothing under a shade with blood stains and sticks including a pestle with blood stains.

The prosecutor said when the clothing was removed; Mr Nyamekeh was found lying on a mat in a pool of blood. Chief Inspector Appiakorang said when the police critically examined the deceased, it was found out that his skull was broken with cutlass wounds on his face.

She police investigation revealed that at about 2000 hours on March 14 Agyeiwaa went to Nyamebekyere village and told witnesses in the case that some people went to her boyfriend's workplace to demand a refund of money he owed them and this degenerated into a scuffle and she could not traced the deceased. She said Agyeiwaa then left the village to Atiankama Nkwanta and proceeded to Akim Manso to hand-over Mr Nyamekeh's mobile phone to his younger sister, before she continued to her parents at Apaaso where she was arrested on March 17. 1 April 11
