Ho, Dec. 14, GNA - About 75 per cent of the internally generated funds of the Ho Polyclinic this year was for the upkeep of inmates of the Ho Leprosarium.

Mr Michael Agbezuge, Accountant of the Polyclinic, said this when members of the Ho Church Women in Fellowship, a non-denominational Christian organization that seeks to activate Christian women in ministry, presented some items to the leprosarium.

The items, which were estimated at 10 million cedis, included used and new clothing, sandals, soap, gari, sugar, bibles and Christian literature.

Mr Agbezuge said this has put the polyclinic in a "financial crisis as the 6,000 cedis a day for each inmate of the leprosarium promised by the government was never extended to them".

He appealed to the government as a mater of urgency to "come over to Macedonia to save the situation before it gets out of hand". Presenting the items on behalf of the fellowship Rev Mrs. Diana Abbey-Mensah, the President and founder of the Fellowship, said membership of the fellowship was made up of women from over 30 churches in the Ho Municipality.

She said the fellowship was working hard to create awareness about the importance of togetherness and unity among churches, tribes and nations by organizing public forums where topics affecting the church, state and individuals were discussed.

Receiving the items Ms Grace Atimah, the Deputy Medical Assistant in charge of the Polyclinic, said the donations came at the right time as the polyclinic had exhausted its internally generated funds. She appealed to philanthropists, churches and non-governmental organizations to come to the aid of the polyclinic.

Ms Atimah said she was also grateful to the Catholic Relief Services for its monthly donations to the polyclinic.
