Accra, July 15, GNA -About 200 women on Tuesday went on a demonstration to demand from former President Jerry John Rawlings the names of those whom he alleged murdered 34 women during the latter part of his administration.

Ms Freda Prempeh, Assemblywoman of Lako Electoral Area, led the women, who came from all walks of life and were dressed in mourning clothes with red bands around their heads, from the Kwame Nkrumah Circle through the Ring Road to Parliament House.

The women danced to brass band music as they went along under Police escort to present their petition to the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mr Freddie Blay, who received it on behalf of the Speaker of the House, Peter Ala Adjetey.

A copy was also given to Mrs Gladys Asmah, Minister of Women and Children Affairs while Alhaji Ishmael Saaka, Acting Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, received that of President Rawlings because Dr Josiah Aryeh, General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, who was within the premises, was not readily available at the time. The women bore placards some which read: " Jerry Mother Ghana Wants to Know Who Killed Her Daughters"; "Please, Bring Out The Names of The Killers"; Josiah Aryeh, Who Brought the Bodies of Women From Togo?" "Please, Who Are These 15 Men? We Want to Know Them" and "Madam Rawlings, Please Rap Your Husband to Give Us The Names".
