Zorko (UE), July 20, GNA- Women and the youth have been urged to vote for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to enable the Party to champion their cause to liberate them from their plight. Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo, wife of the Presidential Candidate of the NPP said this in a statement read on her behalf by Mr. Isaac Atasige, the Coordinator of her campaign team at Zorko in the Bongo District in the Upper East Region at the weekend during a female football competition.

She said she had already pledged to champion the cause of women and children when the NPP wins the upcoming elections and would not let them down.

Mrs. Akufo-Addo said as women who formed majority of the population they had a greater influence and could make a greater impact by exercising their franchise by renewing their mandate for the NPP. She explained that by so doing, "you as women would be playing a major role in addressing your own problems since the party would be more committed to solving your plight as a result of your efforts of making it to retain power."

Mrs. Akufo-Addo entreated women to convince and encourage their husbands and others to vote for the party and also appealed to them to urge their children who had attained the voting age to register when the voters register opened to enable them to cast their votes. She reiterated that she would advocate vigorously by ensuring that the "Women and Children Ministry" was adequately strengthened to advance the cause of women and children.

She asked Ghanaians to cross examination their living conditions as at the period of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the NPP Government, saying the NPP Government had helped transformed the economy better than the NDC and appealed to the electorate to retain the party in power to enable it to continue to improve the living standards of the people.

Mr. Francis Akurugu Asampana, the District Chief Executive for Bongo urged foot soldiers of the party not to be complacent but to strengthen their machinery by intensifying their campaigns to capture more votes for the party.

He asked Ghanaians to examine critically and make a right choice, saying their future would be doomed if they make the wrong choice. He added that, the NPP Government had chalked a lot of successes in the implementation of good policies such as the Capitation Grant, School Feeding Programme, Metro Bus System, National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), among others and deserve another term of office to continue with its good works.
