The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. John Kudalor has been lauded for his decision to disband all vigilante groups associated with political parties ahead of the upcoming general elections.

Mr. John Kudalor said the decision by the Police Administration to disband these vigilante groups is based on advice by the Attorney General (A-G) that all those groups are “unlawful and illegal.”

However, the Ashanti Regional Chairman Mr. Bernard Antwi Bosiako aka Chairman Wontumi says the IGP is finding it difficult to disband these groups because it cannot disband that of the NDC hence the NPP will continue to keep their macho men until those of the NDC are disbanded.

According to him, the IGP's hands are tied to his back by his 'master', therefore, it will be very difficult for him to axe 'thugs' of the NDC. He urged Mr. Kudalor to gather the courage and disband the groups in the NDC so that all the political parties will follow in that regard.

"The IGP is aware that the NDC is having macho men and so we in the NPP have macho men. I am not a Pharisee. I am someone who speaks the truth. We have to be frank with ourselves; all the political parties have macho men...So the IGP should set the example by disbanding the macho men in the NDC so we will learn from them."

Mr. Bosiako posited that, they will continue to keep these macho men to protect themselves against attacks from the ruling government because the police have failed to protect them.

Mr. Antwi Bosiako was responding to claims that he stormed a registration centre in Kumasi last Sunday with his personal body guards because some macho men suspected to be from the NDC were attacking observers of the NPP and EC officials .

According to him, his guards arrested these 'thugs' and handed them over to the police but the security agency failed to take the necessary action; therefore they have advised themselves on what to do.

Some registration centres in Kumasi have recorded some pockets of violence as some persons have been assaulted and equipment belonging to the Electoral Commission (EC) destroyed.

Mr. Bosiako is reported to have assaulted two members of the Ashanti Regional NPP in the persons of Hon. Owusu Amankwah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia North and one Felix Ibrahim, the constituency secretary.

Speaking to the issue, Mr. Bosiako denied the report saying, the whole information has been skewed against him.
