Work On Kpandu Exchange Nears Completion

WORK ON the Kpandu digital Telephone Exchange is nearing completion.

Indications are that 1,000 out of the projected 4,000 line capacity will become operational in March, this year.

Douglas Kirk Wagba, Volta Regional Head of Ghana Telecom (GT) told the Regional Minister Kwesi Owusu- Yeboa and other officials of the Regional Consultative Council during a routine visit to the project site at Kpandu that the installation works which started three years ago, are in their final states and would bring the total number of telephone lines in the region to 11,200 on completion.

Presently, the regional capital, Ho has 3,000 lines while Hohoe has 5000.

Kpandu, Aflao and Keta have 1,000 lines each. Kete Krachi and Amedzofe have 100 each.

Wagba was remorseful about the power trips at the Kpandu exchange and expressed concern about the high cost of running a diesel operated generator for long hours.

Hon. Owusu-Yeboa was satisfied with work done so far and urged the company to complete the project on schedule.
