Mr. Kojo Yankah, the contractor working on the Western Regional Theatre Complex has indicated that about five billion cedis would be needed to bring the theatre to an appreciable level for this year's National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFAC) slated for April 2 to 13, 2003.

He made this known when the NAFAC planning committee chaired by Nana Kobina Nketia 11, Omanhene of Essikado paid a visit to the theatre.

Mr. Yankah told the committee members that fixing of windows, electrical fittings, paintings and plumbing works, roof ceiling and floor tilling are the major works to be done to make the place usable.

He said the architectural and engineering service limited (AESL) consultants on the projects recently told him that there was inadequate funds, so work on the project should be suspended.

Mr. Yankah noted that it would take him one and a half months to complete the work on the theatre if funds was made available.

Nana kwabena Nketia gave assurance that the committee would work hard to source funding to ensure that the completion of the project was on schedule.

NAFAC, which was originally slated for November last year had to be postponed to April this year because the theatre complex at Sekondi, venue for the festival, could not be completed on schedule owning to lack of funds.
