Work on road projects slacken

Kadjebi, Nov 22, GNA - Pace of work on a number of road projects in the Hohoe, Jasikan and Kadjebi districts of the Volta region has slowed down with some at a standstill.

Some contractors working on the projects who spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) blamed the situation on the non-payment for work already done.

The projects valued at over 20 million Ghana Cedis GHC) at various levels of completion were funded from the Ghana Road Fund and other sources.

Some of the roads affected were the 7.3 kilometre Kadjebi-Dzindzinso stretch being financed from the Road Fund at a cost of 1.8 million GHC and the six-kilometre Jasikan-Bodada road network costing 590,000 GHC funded by the International Development Agency. The initial speed, which characterized work on the 1.7 million GHC-three- kilometer Hohoe town roads, had also slackened while the contractor working on an additional five kilometres of the Hohoe town roads could not be traced. In February this year, Mr Kofi Dzamesi, Volta Regional Minister commissioned the projects.
