The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has charged workers in the country to work towards achieving economic progress and strengthening democracy despite the hardships they face.
The party advised workers to do this “in the collective interest of our dear nation Ghana.”
These were contained in a statement issued on Wednesday, April 30 – the eve of the 2014 May Day celebrations – to congratulate all workers.
“The New Patriotic Party (NPP) wishes to express appreciation to all workers across the country on this May Day.”
The statement reminded workers of the “pragmatic” policies introduced during the administration of the NPP to make them productive and comfortable.
“These policies sought the greater good of the ordinary worker whilst improving the living standards of the less privileged,” it mentioned.
“As we commemorate May Day, it is the hope of the New Patriotic Party that workers across the country will take stock of the past few years and work tirelessly towards achieving economic progress and strengthening our democracy.”
