The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the Convention People’s Party Bala Maikankan has criticized successive government for not prioritizing the needs of workers in Ghana.
Speaking in an exclusive interview during this years workers day celebration at the Independent Square, he noted that though the growth of this country depends largely on workers in both the private and the public sectors, successive government, most notably the NDC and NPP have failed to give them the deserving condition of service.
According to him, despite the fact that workers welfare features prominently on campaign promises of political parties, little has been done by both the NDC and NPP to avert their woes.
He noted that with the implementation of the Single Spine Salary Structure, better condition of service was anticipated for workers but but the outcome clearly indicate that Ghanaians cannot keep relying on both parties any longer..
He said that it is only the Hassam Ayariga led PNC that can better the lives of workers in both the private and sector.
“Any country that fails to take into account the grievances of workers is treading on dangerous grounds and can never talk of security”
He said the many revolutions that has thrown many countries in disarray is primarily sparked by poor condition of service for workers.
He said that a PNC government would make laws that would ensure that private companies do not exploit Ghanaians as has be the case of Ghana.
“In twenty first century Ghana, I see people earn Fifty Ghana Cedis as salaries at the end of the months and government sits idle as though the private man does not matter”.
He further challenged Ghana to change from voting for the consistently underperforming NDC and NPP and try the more dynamic and responsible leadership the PNC has in stock.
The PNC he said in the run up to the 2008 elections led in the IEA Debate and further more presented the more result oriented manifesto as per the analysis of expect in politics but failed to do well because they did not lie nor made empty promise like the of the other parties did.
He said, this did not mean the party would change it strategy but stick to telling Ghanaians the truth while they wait on them to for the very first time, vote for the truth.
The usually soft spoken analytical young man called on the Atta Mills led NDC to revisit the implementation of the SSSS and look at sectors like education ad health which did not see a significant improvement even after the program came into force.
“Any country that that fails to change when things are not going well keeps languishing in poverty and I therefore challenge Ghana’s electorate to prove that they know what they want and would not settle for mediocrity” he said.
