Kuntanase (Ash), May 30, GNA - Community-Based Surveillance Volunteers (CBSV) have been advised to stick to their mission of ensuring good quality health care for the people and avoid the politicisation of their work.

Dr Agatha Akua Bonney, Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District Director of Health Services, said services of the CBSV were intended for the benefit of all and sundry irrespective of their political leaning, ethnic background, religion or social standing. Dr Bonney was addressing a day's training workshop on community health registers and active case search on buruli ulcer, yaws and acute flaccid paralysis for CBSVs and chemical sellers at Kuntanase at the weekend.

The 150 participants drawn from the District were trained in basic community health data management, household register compilation, data on deaths and births, anaemia in pregnancy and nutrition status of children.

Dr Bonney assured the CBSVs that in view of their important role in health delivery, the district directorate of health service was poised to explore all avenues to motivate them through incentives and various training schemes.

Miss Beatrice Adjei, District Public Health Nurse, appealed to the CBSVs not to take chances but to ensure that they promptly reported any issue concerning health to the nearest hospital or health centre to avoid the outbreak of any epidemic in the area.

She entreated chiefs, assembly members and opinion leaders in the various communities to co-operate and give support to the CBSV in the course of their work to enable them bring quality health to the doorsteps of the people.
