Akim Oda (E/R), Aug. 9, GNA- The Birim South District Chief Executive, Mr Yaw Amprofi has said the HIV/AIDS can only be controlled through change of behaviour and attitude.

He said change in behaviour requires the involvement of all to promote interventions and reduce sexual behaviour of those vulnerable to the disease.

Mr Amprofi was addressing the closing section of the week long Peer Education Workshop on HIV/AIDS organised by the Sustainable Living Foundation (SLF), a Community Based Organisation (CBO) on Friday at Akim Oda.

About 100 participants including hairdressers, barbers, tailors, dressmakers, artisans and members of various vulnerable groups attended it.

The Bishop of Akim Oda Methodist Church, Rev. Jacob Impraim said churches were preaching abstinence from pre-marital and indiscriminate sexual behaviour because "the body is the temple of the Holy spirit which should not be divided through sexual promiscuity."

Mr Opare Akuffo, Executive Director of Sustainable Living Foundation said medical experts have advised the use of condoms during sexual intercourse as a strategy to prevent infection. 09 Aug. 2003
