Workshop on conflict resolution ends at Forikrom

Forikrom (B/A), May 21, GNA- A two-day workshop on conflict prevention and management attended by 30 community-based extension agents and traditional rulers has ended at Forikrom in the Techiman municipality.

The workshop, organized by Abrono Organic Farming Project and sponsored by Care International, was aimed at building the capacities of the farmers in conflict management in their communities. Nana Kwao Adams, Director of the Project, noted that conflict was an essential element of societal life, but could either destroy or build relationships.

Nana Adams, who is also the Twafohene of Forikrom, said in the event of a conflict between individuals, groups, and communities, reconciling people and re-building relationships was not a marginal activity, but the key in creating a sustainable peace building process. He charged the participants to become agents of conflict resolution in their respective communities and organizations to ensure a cohesive atmosphere for nation building. Mr. Charles Ampofo, workshop facilitator and an official of the Project entreated the participants to share the knowledge they had acquired with other members of their associations and groups. He deplored the situation where course participants failed to apply the knowledge and skills they acquired at workshops. Topics such as conflict analysis, conflict dynamics, human needs theory, intermediary role in conflict prevention, among others, were treated.
