Workshop on coronavirus organised for Techiman traders

The Parliamentary Select Committee on Local Government and Rural Development has organized a training of trainers’ workshop for Market Queens and traders from four Assemblies in the Bono East region.

The program aims to improve hygienic conditions at the Techiman, Kintampo, Atebubu and Nkoranza markets.

The one-day event which took place in Techiman brought together Members of Parliament, Municipal Chief Executives, Health Directors, Health Practitioners, Queen Mothers, and Market Queens.

In his address, the Bono East Regional Minister, Kofi Amoakohene charged participants to attach great importance to the workshop in order to improve their knowledge on COVID-19.

The Minister told participants that attaching that level of seriousness will go a long way to equipping them to be in better positions to educate their colleagues on the novel Coronavirus.

“I encourage our markets, women and traders, to take care of their health and that of their families by adhering to the following precautionary measures as directed by the Ministry of Health…

“… I wish to conclude by urging you to take the workshop seriously so as to upgrade your knowledge on COVID-19 and to be able to educate your peers on the disease”.

He further urged the traders to strictly adhere to the precautionary measures outlined by the Ghana Health Service such as regular and thorough washing of hands under running water, avoid shaking hands and practicing social distancing.

The Minister of Regional Reorganisation and Development, Dan Botwe on his part implored the media to hammer on the severity of the pandemic so as to spark the urgency to adhere to the precautionary measures among the public.

The participating Assemblies were given Veronica Buckets, hand sanitizers and instructed to intensify education on the virus.
