World Vision helps to enhance health care delivery in Assin district

Assin Foso (C/R), Aug. 7 GNA - The Assin area Development Programme (ADP) of the World Vision, Ghana, on Friday, presented assorted drugs and surgical equipment valued at 500 million cedis to the Foso Saint Francis Xavier Hospital at Assin Foso in the Central Region to support health care services.

They included sodium chloride injections, scissors, surgical gloves, blood collection tubes, syringes, infusions and antibiotics. Mr Akwesi Cyriaano, acting Assin ADP manager, who presented the items to the hospital through Dr Nii Adjei Adjetey, Assin district director of Health Services said his organisation sourced the items from its overseas principals in Europe and the United States in order to help the hospital acquire drugs and equipment that were not readily available on the market.

He hoped the drugs would not only subsidize the cost of medical care at the hospital, but also meet its needs as a referral medical centre.

Assisted by the hospital staff, Mr Cyriaano, also presented 50 dolls to toddlers on admission at the children's ward of the hospital. Dr Adjetey expressed gratitude to World Vision for the gesture and hoped others organisations and individuals would emulate it, and asked the hospital authorities to ensure the proper custody and use of the items.

Sister Felicia Immaculata Gbortsu, acting nursing sister in-charge of the hospital and Mr Peter Antobam Cudjoe, acting principal nursing officer of the hospital jointly pledged to ensure that the gift would be put to good use.
