The Manager of Civil Maintenance and Electrical Services Premises Division of the Electricity Company Ghana, Chief Engineer Adam Issah, has called on parents and guardians to be responsible by taking good care of their children, especially the girl child.

This, according to him, would protect them from child trafficking as well as ensure their well-being.

Speaking at the celebration of the UN World Youth Skills Day organized by the Adenta Municipal Chief Imam, Sheikh Mohammed Mutawakil, Engineer Issah stated that taking proper care of their wards would give the children parental protection to grow up as useful citizens.

He urged parents to strictly monitor their children's movements and acquaintances so that they would not join bad companies or fall into the hands of child traffickers.

Children, he said, are assets, and therefore, it is the responsibility of parents to offer them shelter, care, and the best training.

He added that allowing children to roam unnecessarily without restrictions will harm their future.

He stated that parents are also to ensure the absolute safety of children and must send or pick them up from school instead of delegating such activities to outsiders who, at times, kidnap or harm minors.

He revealed that child traffickers are everywhere, and as such, there is a need to be more careful in order not to expose children to such criminals because the children are the future leaders who will manage the affairs of the country.
