Maverick Kofi Wayo says he has given up on President J. A. Kufuor and would never campaign for him again. He says the Kufuor administration is insensitive to the plight of the people of Ghana. Mr. Wayo says after the IFC loan scam, the government is forcing everybody to pay huge taxes which have been imposed on petroleum prices.
The government, according to him, is so insensitive that it is compelling even the poor and the sick to pay huge taxes.
''Everybody including the sick and the poor have to take trotros or taxis and are therefore being forced to pay the taxes.''
Mr. Wayo alleged that the President has surrounded himself with people who have nothing to offer the country. ''Their handling of the national economy is terrible. They don?t know about international business, if they knew anything, they would not have gone for the IFC loan.
''The world is laughing at the Kufuor administration and we are heading towards a bungling democracy'' he said. Mr. Wayo urged Ghanaians not to allow the democratic experiment to collapse with the ineptitude of the Kufuor administration.
''Ghanaian fought military dictatorship for twenty years and they will not allow this situation to persist.''
Mr. Wayo said if the President wants to leave office honourably then he has to clear all the sycophants around him and appoint ''hard thinking people''.
