o…But Kufuor Replies, That's A Complete Lie

Founder and leader of the defunct United Renaissance Party (URP), "Chuck" Kofi Wayo has alleged that former President John Agyekum Kufuor literary went on his knees before President John Evans Atta Mills to let go of investigations into the Woyome judgment debt saga.

According to him, former President Kufuor, fully aware of his complicity in the entire saga and rightly embarrassed, beseeched President Mills not to bring his (Kufuor's) name up in the saga regarding investigations into the matter.

Speaking in an interview on Peace FM during the Midday bulletin, the maverick politician also described President Mills as being too tolerant and religious, pointing out that “politics is not a Jesus Christ business, Jesus Christ business is a whole different ball-game.”

“The information I have is that former President Kufour went to President Mills, asking him to cover up this case because he is directly involved in it but Atta Mills said no; let the chips fall where they may. if this is true, if this allegation is true, right, everybody connected with the case, should be brought to the police to be questioned...," Kofi Wayo said.

But in sharp rebuttal on the same platform, Spokesperson for the former President, Frank Agyekum said there is not iota of truth in the alleged report.

He described Mr Wayo's allegations as "a complete pack of lies", and added that the maverick politician is simply letting his “imaginations run wild”.

“…It is never true, he is just imagining things. Kofi Wayo is telling lies; there is no iota of truth in what he is saying. Former President Kufuor has not met with President Mills to discuss any issue with him not to even talk of pleading to hush up the Woyome scandal…Kufour has already stated that he and his appointees have no complicity in Woyome scandal and the payment of the judgment debt; so if investigations needs to be done, they should go ahead and do so. Why would he go and plead with President Mills when he (Kufuor) has publicly stated that he welcomes investigations into the saga?” he asked.
