Ghana’s number one youth-oriented radio station, Y107.9FM as part of its ‘Y Refresh’ campaign introduced new on-air talent who have brought listeners a new trend of exciting content on radio.
The introduction of the new faces to existing programmes and the revamping with captivating content was not the only success story from YFM.
‘Lockdown Radio’ became the go to radio programming that helped to keep listeners entertained at home amidst Covid-19.
The “Y Leaderboard Series” in the short while has had a number of inspirational leaders being interviewed on YFM as they told their life stories to motivate and inspire the youth to develop their full potential.
Amid the trendsetting in Ghanaian urban radio, YFM maintained its spot as the station with unique programming that meets international standards like the monthly-themed radio programme series which focuses on key areas such as health, education, technology, automobile among others; and the radio party show ‘Y Party Pressure’ on Saturday night.
Speaking about the success chalked by YFM, through the YRefresh campaign, Programmes Manager, Eddy Blay said:
‘’Y Refresh gave us the opportunity to compete and cement our win as the go-to urban radio brand in Ghana.
We kept listeners entertained, educated and informed. We put our audience first in all we were doing. We activated our CSR initiative “Y-Cares” through the #WhatCanYouDo campaign to re-enforce the brand’s force for social good. We proved we were equipped to innovate as fast as our stakeholders and industry required.”
“We lined-up a number of giveaways for listeners across all the on-air shows ranging from shopping vouchers, free lunch with YFM Stars, free photoshoots, social media engagement and also gave back to the needy as part of our CSR”.
According to the radio measurement data of Geopoll, YFM ranked the 3rd English speaking radio station and overall, ranked number 5 radio station per their data results for June 2020 in Accra.
Apart from YFM’s performance in the English and General radio market, YFM continues to be the No.1 youth and urban station and dominates every other station in appealing to the youth demographic with its innovative on-air, digital and events strategies.
Eddy Blay commenting on YFM’s audience measurement performance for June said:
‘’It may seem easy to bring up concepts, but to get the right people to carry it to fruition is a gift only a few brands can boast off.
To also have an independent research firm authenticate your audience numbers in your field of expertise is encouraging. Being ranked among the best, doesn’t mean we have arrived on the contrary, it is just the beginning as it motivates us to do more and create more engaging content for our listeners.’’
He commended the team – Presenters, DJs and Producers for holding the mantle and giving listeners good radio content mixed with music, entertainment and educational programming.
Over the past decade, YFM has consistently become home to good music and entertainment. Broadcasting on triangular dials on 107.9 Mhz in Accra, 97.9 Mhz in Takoradi and in Kumasi on 102.5 Mhz, Ghana’s number one music radio station with the tagline ‘For the Young and Young at Heart’, YFM continuously seeks new ways to improve the lives of its core audience; young Ghanaians and millennials who are imaginative, curious and ambitious.
