Following the directive of the Wuaku Commission, a member of the Abudu Gate, Iddrisu Jahinfo, was last Friday, arraigned before the Tamale High Court on a provisional charge of murder.
He was remanded in prison custody to re-appear on August 23. This is to enable the police to complete investigations into the case.

Jahinfo’s appearance before court follows an order by the Wuaku Commission inquiring into the Yendi crisis to the police on August 8 to arrest and prosecute him.

The commission had stated that there was sufficient evidence for the arrest and prosecution of Jahinfo. A source close to the investigative team of the commission in Sunyani said in an interview yesterday said that Jahinfo’s plea was not taken when he appeared before the court.

In ordering for his prosecution, the commission said the charge to be preferred against him rested within the ambit of the police.

Yidana Sugri, another member of the Abudu Gate has alleged at the commission that he saw Jahinfo holding the mutilated head of the late Ya-Na at the palace of the Bolin Lana, the head of the Abudus, on March 27.

When he appeared before the commission, Jahinfo said that the only time he went to the Bolin Lana’s palace was on Friday March 29, when he went looking for his father.

But he was exposed by the commission when its chairman, Mr Justice I. N. K. Wuaku, produced a picture taken at the Bolin Lana’s palace on Sunday, just after the murder of the Ya-Na.
