Police at Mpaha in the Central Gonja district of the Northern region has arrested the New Patriotic Party constituency Secretary for the Yapei Kusawgu Mr. Amadu Zakaria following violence that broke out on Sunday between supporters of NPP and NDC in the ongoing limited voters registration exercise

The ultimate1069.com gathered is holding the constituency scribe for obstructing the process and assaulting one Mohammed a member of the NDC and close associate of the Deputy Energy minister and NDC parliamentary candidate for the area, John Jinapor

The incident was as a result of the NPP protest against some “strange” people believed to be bused from Kumasi to be registered at the Kpabuso D/A Primary registration centre

The protest by the NPP angered supporters of the NDC who also mounted counter protest which resulted in the physical attack and free for fight

The NPP secretary in an interview with Eliasu Tanko shortly before he was picked up accused John Jinapor and the NDC party of transporting people from different regions to register in the constituency

“The Deputy Minister for Energy and the NDC parliamentary candidate initiated the policy where they brought people in a 207 bus full to capacity from Kumasi who are not natives to come and register”

“so when they came I called the organizer, Mohammed and told him that these people they brought don’t belong here so they should send them where they belong that was all and he tried to push me and I resisted”, Mr. Amadu told Eliasu Tanko

The confusion which lasted for hours halted the process until the police came, dispersed the violent crowd and picked up Mr. Amadu who was reported to have violently attacked Mr. Mohammed.
