President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo singled out Nana Bediatuo Asante, Ghana's latest Ambassador at Large, for praise when he met with nine new top diplomats at the Jubilee House earlier this week.
Bediatuo, has since 2017 served as Secretary to the President, till his ambassadorial appointment.
Akufo-Addo said his former secretary had rendered truly exceptional service to the republic of Ghana in a speech at the meeting with the diplomats.
"All nine have been carefully chosen to become our High Commissioners and Ambassadors designate and constitutional provisions pertaining to their appointments specifically consultations with the Council of State have been duly respected.
"I use this occasion also to applaud the yeoman service that the secretary to the president Nana Bediatuo Asante, now also ambassador at large has rendered to the republic these last seven years. His record has been truly exceptional," the president added.
In all, three High Commissioners and five Ambassadors were handed appointment documents.
The newly appointed envoys include Vice Admiral Seth Amoama to Nigeria
Mrs. Francisca Ashietey-Oduntun to South Africa
Mr. Ernest Yaw Amporful to Rwanda.
Major General Nicholas Peter Andoh to Türkiye.
Mr. Henry Tachie-Menson to Belgium and the EU

Ms. Abigail Naa Adzoko Kwashi to Norway
Dr. Robert Afriyie to Ethiopia and the African Union, and
Nana Bediatuo Asante as Ambassador-at-Large.
An Ambassador-at-Large is a distinguished envoy tasked with special missions, not confined to a single diplomatic post. The specifics of Bediatuo's new responsibilities remain to be clarified, including whether he will continue in his role as Executive Secretary or if a successor will be named.
