Boti (E/R), Aug 20, - The paramount chief of the Yilo Krobo traditional area, Nene Narh Dawutey Ologo the sixth, has called on his people to preserve their cultural and natural resources for tourism promotion. To this end, he warned against bad farming practices along the banks of the Pompom River which feeds the Boti falls and against other activities which affect the environment and culture of the people. The warning is contained in a speech read on Nene Ologo's behalf at the launching of a programme for this year's celebration of the ''Kloyosikplemi'' festival at the Boti falls, near Koforidua. The festival is to be celebrated from October 22 to 25, under the theme: ''Preserving our culture and the environment to promote tourism''. It commemorates the descent of the Yilo Krobo's from the Krobo mountains in 1892 to their present abode. Nene Ologo urged the people to help develop the Boti falls and other nearby tourist spots. Inaugurating the festival planning committee, the Queenmother of Yilo Krobo, Nana Korlewor Adjado the third, said the traditional council is determined to ensure that the festival, which began two years ago, attracts tourists to the area. She charged the committee to work hard towards the realisation of this objective. The 16-member committee is under the chairmanship of Mr Emmanuel Akuffo, a director at the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
