Mr. Boakye Agyarko, one of the NPP presidential aspirants has noted that it would be wrong for any member of the party to claim that because he has spent a lot on the party, he should be made an instant presidential candidate.

He described such assertion as "pitiable expression" that must be ignored. Mr. Boakye Agyarko, was speaking in an interview with the this reporter at Krobo Odumase over the weekend.

According to him, Dr. J.B.Danquah, offered everything that he had yet, he did not insist that because of the sacrifices he should to be made a leader. Leadership is not by mere sacrifice but having a message and vision that people can buy into and repose their confidence in you to follow, he said adding

"If leadership were about mere sacrifices we should be lining up the children of Dr. Danquah and Busia and put them in office. We should be lining up the children of those great men of UP tradition and say because of the sacrifices of their great fathers it is their turn to be put in office".

The presidential aspirant noted that those who got injured during the struggle have not even come out to say they must be considered for certain positions.

He was therefore at loss as to why people should be making such comments.

"Let them tell us what they can do for this party to move forward so that people can repose confidence in them and not a mere comment that they must be put in office.

Touching on the claim that some of the presidential aspirants were just aiming at positions in the next government of NPP; Agyarko said it would be unfortunate if that is how some of them are thinking.

"I am not contesting because I have another hidden but seeking the position to lead the country, he noted.
