You 'confuse' God if you leave Ghana and don’t return with what you’ve acquired - Amoabeng

Former founder and chief executive officer of the defunct UT Bank, Prince Kofi Amoabeng, has urged the youth of Ghana who travel abroad to return to the country after improving themselves through acquisition of knowledge and skills.

Speaking at TrueLife 2024 as a special guest at the University of Ghana, Legon, Kofi Amoabeng emphasized that God, in His wisdom, has reasons for placing Ghanaians in the Ghana.

"Everyone is unique; everyone has been put in this world to serve a purpose that will make the world a better place. God, in His wisdom, put me in Kukurantumi, Ghana, and He put some of you in Accra, Kumasi, or Gomoa.

"So, His original plan for you is to create change in Ghana. Now, if you say Ghana is hard, understand that if there were no challenges, there wouldn’t be problems for you to solve. You have been placed here to solve a problem. The problem may not be clearly defined, but the broader purpose is for you to make Ghana a better place. So, if you decide to leave and don’t come back with the knowledge and skills you’ve acquired, you have, in a sense, 'confused' God."

Kofi Amoabeng stressed the need for Ghana to be fixed, adding that life abroad is not as appealing as it seems.

"He put you here to solve a problem, and if you leave and don’t return, you’ve confused God. If you go with the intention of improving yourself and then come back, yes, that’s part of the plan, because you will want to do something better to enable you to solve problems here.

"Problems abound in Ghana, and it is easier for you to make an impact here than in more advanced countries, where you may be, more or less, irrelevant. But my main point is that we need to fix this country because, honestly, it is not nice living abroad. You are a fifth-class citizen."
