The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, issued a stern warning to the Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, Faustina Andoh-Kwofie, over her actions and insistence on continuing the re-collation of disputed election results for the Nsawam-Adoagyire constituency.

The collation exercise, held at the Police Depot in Accra, became tense and chaotic at a point as party representatives disagreed over the admissibility of some result sheets.

On December 12, the Electoral Commission (EC) ordered a re-collation of results from four constituencies in the Eastern Region: Suhum, Nsawam, Fanteakwa North, and Akwatia. These constituencies had been the subject of disputes over the original collation process.

The re-collation, which began at the National Police Training School in Tesano, Accra, was intended to resolve these disputes. However, confusion arose due to disagreements between the NDC and the NPP, causing the process to extend into a second day.

The NDC raised additional concerns about discrepancies in the Electoral Commission’s original pink sheets, further escalating tensions on the second day of the exercise.

In response, the NDC secured a court injunction to halt the re-collation exercise.

Despite the injunction, the Director-General of CID, Faustina Andoh-Kwofie, was reportedly urging the parties to proceed with the re-collation exercise.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, December 13, 2024, Asiedu Nketiah cautioned the senior police officer about the potential consequences of her actions if she failed to adhere to the court order.

"...The injunction application has already been served to the Electoral Commission. The one who received the service is Daniel Nyamekye at the headquarters of the EC. Dr. Bossman Asare has acknowledged receipt of the application, yet the Director of CID, Faustina Andoh-Kwofie, appears to ignore the process and has asked the EC to continue. If Andoh-Kwofie is allowing the process to continue, she will bear the consequences of her actions," Asiedu Nketiah stated.
