In a collaborative effort to empower young entrepreneurs and foster economic growth, Ghana Trade and Investment Activity (GTI) partnership with the AfCFTA Young Entrepreneurs Federation (AfYEF) has launched a training program for 30 aspiring young entrepreneurs in Accra, Ghana.

The one day’s comprehensive training which took place in Accra equipped the young entrepreneurs with the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully export products under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to other African countries and the USA market.

The participants also received valuable insights on export procedures, market opportunities, and strategies to thrive in international trade.

Special focus was given to members involved in Agricultural value chains, as they will receive extra support in the form of training, licensing, and funding specifically tailored to facilitate exporting to the US market.

"Young people possess tremendous potential to contribute to the growth and development of Ghana and the continent at large. These initiatives can empower them to become successful entrepreneurs, create jobs and positively impact their communities," said Prince Siita Sofo Hissan, President of the AfCFTA Young Entrepreneurs Federation (AfYEF).

Prince Siita said he was happy about the opportunity, saying it will enlighten and position members of his outfit to take full advantage of the opportunities offered by the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement.

The president expressed profound gratitude to Ghana Trade and Investment Activity (GTI) under Feed The Future initiative, saying the training was an opportunity of a lifetime as it will not only train the youth but will support them as well to acquire licenses and funding for export.

The training that took place at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel was only for Entrepreneurs from the Southern Sector. Another training has been scheduled for August where a second batch of entrepreneurs from the Northern Sector will receive similar training in Tamale, Northern Ghana on 24 August 2023.
