The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Hon. Enoch Teye Mensah, has rubbished claims by the wife of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer that the current government has failed to develop Ningo despite the massive support the party enjoys from the people.

Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo whose half parentage comes from Ningo told the chiefs and people of the area over the weekend to reject the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming polls since the area lacks basic amenities.

She expressed regret that the NDC government has shown no interest in their welfare even though the people of the traditional area have voted for the party for years.

Mrs. Akufo-Addo indicated that when “by God’s grace and your support’ my husband is voted into power, he is determined to ‘tackle head on’ the kinds of problems that hold back Ningo’s development.”

But Hon. E.T. Mensah who is also the Minister for Water Resources Works and Housing and Housing has slammed Mrs. Akufo-Addo for making the comments out of sheer ignorance of the reality on the ground.

“Within this period alone – the three and half years of NDC rule – various projects, places of convenience, schools have been awarded on contract; [some are] 80 percent complete. Others are still work in progress,” he said.

He said within the period, Ningo has benefited from 23 projects as against Prampram’s 16 projects, asking “so what is Mrs. Akufo-Addo talking about? Does she know the terrain?”

“Her husband was a member of parliament for twelve years and people are asking ‘what is her husband’s track record in Kyebi area?’”

She advised the wife of the NPP flagbearer to cross-check such information before putting out such non-factual claims.
