The Kasena-Nankana West District Chief Executive (DCE), Gerard Ataogye, has commended the First Lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo and her Rebecca Foundation for extending their medical outreach program to his district and people.

According to him, the program came at a time when the people need it most and would help them deal with farming-related health issues to stay healthy and fit to continuously engage in their occupational activities.

The Rebecca Foundation, an initiative of Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo, on Sunday kicked off their regional health outreach program with a health screening for over 500 residents of Mirigu and surrounding areas in the Kasena-Nankana West District (KNWDA).

The screening lasted a whole day and residents were taken through screening procedures for Diabetes, Malaria, Hepatitis, hypertension, voluntary testing for Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS and given treatments for the various ailments.

The medical team of Doctors, Nurses and Laboratory Assistants placed a special focus on the aged folk, women and children as they attended to the huge crowd that throng the venue for the exercise.

Speaking before the commencement of the exercise, the DCE reiterated the need for the people to participate in the screening exercise, with a call on them to take issues of their health seriously.

He praised Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo and the Upper East Regional Minister, Tangoba Abayage, for their commitment to improving the health service in his district and appealed to the people to keep faith with government for more life-changing interventions.

He said, “The team has been sent here by her Excellency, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo to screen and treat you of your sickness. They are a team of young medical doctors and nurses who are committed to making sure that everyone here is treated and taken care of. So please take the screening seriously and come out in your numbers to participate in it”.

“Her excellency has her eyes everywhere in the country and is very committed to improving the lives of the people. She has done a lot for Ghanaian women and children in the health sector and is still doing great things. We are happy to have such a caring mother and we thank her and appeal to her to continue to organize live changing initiatives to improve the living conditions of the people”, he added.

The leader of the Dr. Ezekiel Agyekum-Obeng, who was impressed with the huge turnout for the screening exercise, encouraged the people in the selected districts to embrace the outreach and use it to access their health status.

He thanked the Upper East Regional Minister; Tangoba Abayage, DCE; Gerard Ataogye for spreading the information about their visit to the people and quickly organizing them for the exercise.

Roger Atasige, the regent who received the medical team on behalf of the Paramount of Mirigu chief thanked Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo and her foundation for bringing the medical outreach to his community.

He stated the challenges affecting the smooth delivery of health care in his area and asked for the intervention of the Foundation and the First Lady to improve situations.

He lauded the initiative and prayed for the smooth execution of the exercise nationwide.
