President John Dramani Mahama has delivered an encouraging message to young people across the country during Ghana’s 69th Independence Day celebrations, urging them to take advantage of the opportunities available to their generation and help shape the nation’s future.
Speaking at the event held at the Jubilee House to mark Ghana’s Independence Day on March 6, 2026, the president acknowledged the aspirations and potential of the country’s youth, assuring them that their voices and ambitions matter.
“To the young people of this country, I see you, I hear you, and I believe in your potential,” President Mahama said.
“You belong to a generation that is armed with tools and opportunities that earlier generations could hardly have imagined,” he added.
He highlighted how technology is transforming the way young people learn, work, and create opportunities for themselves.

“In your hands, a smartphone transforms into a classroom; in your hands, a smartphone transforms into a business platform; in your hands, a smartphone transforms into a creative studio and a gateway to a global economy,” he noted.
President Mahama encouraged young people to use these digital tools wisely, learning new skills, starting businesses, and exploring innovative ideas that can contribute to the country’s development.
He also reminded them that their creativity, determination, and willingness to take initiative will play a crucial role in building a stronger and more inclusive Ghana.
The president further urged the youth to stay focused on their goals and remain committed to making a difference, stressing that with determination and vision, they have the power to drive the country’s progress in the years ahead.
