The chiefs have advised Dormaahene to visit Awukugua to explore Okomfo Anokye'slegacies
The Traditional Council of Awukugua Akuapem, led by Abontendomhene Nana Baffuor Kumankum Sereko Ayerakwa II, has issued a warning to Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs and Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Area, over his recent comments about the late legendary high priest Okomfo Anokye.
According to the Traditional Council, they will not sit idly by and allow the Dormaahene to insult the legacy of Okomfo Anokye, who hails from Awukugua.
They advised the Dormaahene to visit Awukugua to explore and verify Okomfo Anokye's various legacies for himself, rather than casting doubt on them from Dormaa.
The council further warned that if the Dormaahene continues to make derogatory remarks about Okomfo Anokye, they would pour libation and invoke the wrath of the gods of Awukugua against him.
"Dormaahene should be careful with what he says. If he needs to verify the things Okomfo Anokye did, he should come to Awukugua and see for himself. He shouldn't sit at Dormaa and behave as if he is a man. He shouldn't involve Okomfo Anokye in all his utterances.
"We are going to perform several traditional rites to address this matter. Nana Agyeman Badu, you have committed a taboo by saying Okomfo Anokye did not command the Golden Stool. Talk about your own traditions and not those of others.
"Anybody who jokes with Okomfo Anokye will face the wrath of the gods. Be careful not to shorten your life with your utterances. Be careful, Dormaahene," the council declared.
Dormaahene under fire for insulting Golden Stool and Ashanti heritage
They cautioned that such spiritual consequences could lead to his downfall or even death if he does not exercise restraint.
According to the Dormaahene, the Golden Stool of the Ashanti people, known as Sika Dwa Kofi, which is said to have been summoned down from the sky by the high priest Okomfo Anokye, appeared welded when it was displayed in public.
He, therefore, cast doubt on the historical account of it being commanded from the sky.
Speaking during the launch of the Bonokyempem Council in the Bono Region on August 14, 2025, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, known in legal circles as Justice Daniel Mensah and currently serving as a High Court Judge, stated, "If anyone tells you they can summon something to descend from the sky, I, Agyeman Badu II, am saying it is a lie."
"Didn't you see when the Golden Stool was recently outdoored, it looked welded? Didn't you see?" he questioned.
Meanwhile, according to history, the Golden Stool is said to have descended in a cloud of white dust, amidst thunder and landed on the lap of the first Asante king, Osei Tutu I, by the command of the Okomfo Anokye, a fetish priest.
Dormaahene, on the other hand, has been an astute critic of historical narratives, especially those he has described as distorted facts in the country's history.
