Mr. Mike Allen Hammah, Minister for Lands and Natural Resources has urged the youth to ensure that politicians do not use them to destabilize the peace of the country.
He said the youth constituted the potential work force base of the nation and needed to be guided and supported to acquire knowledge and skills to contribute significantly to national development, rather than indulge in causing misunderstandings and reckless ways of living.
Mr. Hammah who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Effutu Constituency said this when addressed the Winneba Ebenezer Methodist Church Youth Fellowship at a special Church service to commemorate its 65th Anniversary Celebration at Winneba on Sunday.
It was under the theme “Harnessing our gift as youth for Mission”.
Mr. Hammah urged the youth to ignore politicians who will entice them with monies to cause mayhem during the December general election. “You must see such people as unpatriotic to the Nation”.
He appealed to parents to imbue their children with good values that would help them grow to become responsible adults to support the efforts of the government.
The Minster urged the youth to eschew all forms of negative tendencies including premarital sex, drug abuse, indecent dressing and internet fraud as well as disrespect to the elderly.
He asked them to let God be the focus of their lives to enable them to resist temptations, especially from peer group pressure.
Mr. Hammah cautioned the leadership of the fellowship to let transparency be their watch word and urged them to lead lives worthy of emulation to win more souls for Christ.
He said the passage of the youth policy by government was part of the Better Ghana Agenda programme to ensure that the youth are treated fairly as others.
He urged them to obtain copies of the policy to enable them to be abreast with the policy.**
