Youth centre to benefit from computers soon

Sekondi, Sept. 21, GNA - The Sekondi Youth Centre, would soon receive a quantity of computers and their accessories to assist them in providing computer training for the youth.

Miss Wilhelmina A. Quartey-Davies, founder of Kingdom Kids Mission (KKM) a Christian Non-Governmental Organisation disclosed this at the opening of a three-day workshop at Sekondi on Tuesday.

The workshop which was on the theme: Touching Heaven, Changing lives," was organised in collaboration with the National Youth Council (NYC).

She said the computers are expected to assist the youth to become computer literate, engage their attention in socially uplifting educational and training programmes.

Ms. Quartey-Davies noted that the high incidence of sexual promiscuity, drug abuse and other anti-social vices among the youth could be reversed through appropriate training and education. She said he center is currently undertaking research in several African countries on the challenges facing the youth and measures that could assist in reducing such obstacles.

Ms. Quartey-Davies therefore, appealed to the youth to take their education seriously and assist other deprived youths within their community to develop their talents.

Reverend John Divine-Senya, Principal of the Discipleship Training Seminary in Takoradi said the youth must learn to live by all standard laws and regulations within their communities and their various religions.

He said without it, many of them could ruin their future and nothing meaningful could be done with them. Rev. Divine-Senya said pre-marital sex could result in unwanted pregnancies, deprivation and the lack of several basic needs and the youth must avoid it.
