Prampram, Oct.18, GNA - The Progressive Youth Associations of Prampram on Friday, said it would resist attempts by some people from illegally selling lands, thereby depriving the citizens of their legitimate property and rights.

Addressing a news conference at Prampram, Mr Emmanuel N. Nortey, President of the Associations said even though the Land Title Registry was aware that Nene Tetteh Djan III, Paramount Chief of Prampram was the custodian and sole signatory to documents on lands in the area, the Registry continues to accept documents submitted by sub-chiefs thereby encouraging illegal land sale.

The Associations comprising the Ga-Dangme Youth Association of Prampram, Dawhenya Youth Association, Concerned Citizens of Prampram and Dawhenya Land Petitioners, vowed to institute measures to stop the illegal practice to make land available for future development. Mr Nortey appealed to those who have bought lands from sub-chiefs to regularise them with the Prampram Traditional Council.

To ensure effective monitoring, the President said they had decided to establish a Land Secretariat at Prampram to formulate policies and keep relevant documents. He warned that they would not allow anyone to prevent them in their operations.

Mr Nortey said to promote peace and unity in the area; Nene Benta should dissolve an Interim Management Committee (IMC), formed in 1998 and to render accounts on the sale of land and other property to the people.

"We want peace and unity in Prampram and all those who don't want it should be prepared to face our wrath", he added.
