The New Patriotic Party Parliamentary Candidate for Klottey Korle, Lawyer Phillip Addison has launched a scathing attack on the ruling party’s candidate for the area, Dr Zanetor Rawlings accusing her of engaging in populist actions to win her the seat come November election.
According to him, his opponent has resorted to such exercises because she has no message and sees her imminent defeat in the upcoming polls.
Dr Zanetor Rawlings, first daughter of former President Rawlings is poised to win the Klotey Korley seat as the first female Member of Parliament to represent the good people of the area.
The contest between the two candidates is billed to be one of the keenly contested elections in the Greater Accra Region, one which is of interest to many political watchers.
Dr Zanetor recently joined some party faithful to clean the Kwame Nkrumah Circle and its environs and has undertaken such exercises in other parts of the constituency.
Zanetor-2 However speaking to Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Si Me So on Kasapa102.5 FM, Lawyer Philip Addison stated that Zanetor’s populist actions are sure to see her resounding defeat in the next five months.Zanetor-1 “She is doing the very thing her father was doing…digging gutters, did President Kufour ever dig a gutter? But eight years under his rule, there was no flooding at Odawna, but Kufour never went into a gutter to did. These are the things; it’s populist but you have to ask yourself what is the result?
“She did the same she went to dig gutters at Odawna; a day or two later the rains came and the whole place got flooded, so what have you achieved…nothing. She went to desilt the Klottey at Osu, the next day the rains came; same thing there. Going and see the place, the other day people in the area were interviewed on TV and they rubbished the whole thing.”
Lawyer Philip Addison added that merely engaging in cosmetic actions will not provide solution to the myriad of problems facing the costitutency.
“The issues are serious, it’s not these cosmetic things that will solve the problems and it is this cosmetic things we’ve done for the last eight years, that’s where we are without tackling the problem itself. On June 3 they went for the one year anniversary of the flood disaster; they made it political. It was just them instead of inviting everybody and the Mayor said he had solved the problem, two days later the rains came and there was flooding in the once again, because it’s all cosmetic.”
