Lawyer for Dr. Zanetor Rawlings, Godfred Tamakloe, has declined to comment on the registration of his client because he feels that the plaintiff may record and present his interview before court.
Dr. Zanetor Rawlings is being challenged by incumbent NDC Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle constituency, Nii Armah Ashietey over her candidature. The MP is praying the court to declare the results of the November primaries which saw the embattled medical doctor win, as null and void because she [Dr. Zanetor], was not a registered voter at the time of the primaries.
Meanwhile, the candidate registered her name in the ongoing limited registration exercise as a fresh voter at the Nyaniba registration centre yesterday.
However, counsel for Nii Armah Armah Ashiety, Gary Nimako Marfo, says the ‘fresh’ registration by the defendant will not validate her candidature; rather it will make it easier for them to prosecute their case and call for the annulment of the results.
When contacted to comment on the latest development, lawyer for Dr. Zanetor Rawlings, Godwin Tamakloe, declined to comment because, he was ‘scared’ that counsel for the plaintiff, lawyer Gary Nimako Marfo could record him and present it before court.
According to him, his learned colleague had done that once when they both granted an interview to Accra based Citi FM, when the case was before the Accra High Court. He noted, the most important thing is that his client, is now a registered voter.
Lawyer Godwin Tamakloe explained, because the case is before the Supreme Court, he will decline commenting on it and await the outcome of the ruling.
