of Zongo Communities, says Dr. Bawumia

The 2012 Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has said that the proposed Inner City Development Fund, under a Nana Akufo-Addo administration, is purposely aimed at addressing the basic needs of various zongo communities as well as other inner city communities across the country.

Dr. Bawumia said this at the Madina Mosque when he joined fellow Muslims for Friday Jummah Prayers today.

Dr. Bawumia in addressing the congregants gathered, after the prayers, said “as you might have already heard, the Nana Akufo-Addo administration would establish a “Zongo” Development Fund which would be included in all budgets. It is important that we set up this fund because, since independence, little has been done to specifically solve the problem of amenities and other basic needs of our zongos and other inner cities.”

He added “This fund would be used to provide the necessary amenities in the zongos so life can be significantly improved for residents.”

The Imam of the Mosque, Shiek Abdallah, in his submission welcomed Dr. Bawumia to the Mosque and stated his delight that the NPP Vice-Presidential candidate had joined the congregants for the Jummah Prayers.

Dr. Bawumia in his interactions with the congregants after the prayers also informed them that the next NPP administration would establish an Islamic Teachers Training College to ensure that Islamic teachers and young Muslims get the necessary facilities and standard tuition to become Islamic teachers and to help spread the teaching and study of Islam.

Dr. Bawumia was at the Mosque in the company of the National Coordinator of Nasara, Alhaji Abubakar Sulemana.
