An aspiring National Zongo Caucus Coordinator of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abdul Aziz Mohammed has declared that he will make Zongo communities "no go areas" for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) should he win the race.

The contest for the position is gathering steam, but the vibrant NDC activist said he is the man to beat in the race due to his experience.

Abdul Aziz Mohammed argued that due to his record of mobilizing people, he will work hard to consolidate the support base of the party in all Zongo communities nationwide.

Consequently, he said he would chase away current National Nasara Coordinator of the NPP, Alhaji Aziz Futah, and his people whom he described as "aliens" to Zongos (densely populated Muslim communities).

Speaking in an interview with GhanaWeb, the firebrand said he is adequately prepared to work hard and increase the support base of the NDC by targeting Zongo communities as leverage to grow interest in the party.

According to Abdul Aziz Mohammed, the NDC lost the last general elections because of rising discontent in Zongo communities hitherto considered unfavourable grounds for all other political parties except the NDC.

"NDC controls Zongo communities because of reasons attached to our poor policies and programmes," he streesed.

He explained that his main target if he gets the nod, is to mobilize the youth in the Zongo communities to rally behind the elected national executive to function properly.

"The same thing will be done when we elect our flag bearer. The Zongo communities will have to come on-board and support our quest to wrestle power," he pointed out.

The outspoken field marshal who led the Youth for Mahama during the last elections, said he will step up to the plate in executing this mandate and that he will not disappoint the party.

He said his major priority, first of all, is to galvanize the energies of all members of the party and collaborate effectively with other National Executives to win more 'souls' required to prosecute the next general elections.

"The next general elections obviously should be our target. Our opponents are in government and therefore will position themselves. That is why I want to lead in the Zongo communities to protect the growing interest of our party", he said.

He promised to discover new Zongo communities as part of the new strategies he will adopt to increase the support base of the party in the country.

Mohammed added, "We have many unnoticed new Zongo communities springing up in virtually all the newly established communities in all the cities in the country. We will therefore have to work to get their collective support in rescuing Ghanaians from this avoidable hardship been experienced"
