Accra, Oct. 3, GNA - An eight-member delegation from the Tanzanian Parliament has arrived in Accra to acquaint itself with the work of Ghana's legislature.

The delegation, led by Dr Raphael Chegeni, called on the Speaker, Mr Ebenezer Sekyi Hughes, on Tuesday and thanked Ghana for supporting Dr William Stija, a Tanzanian, recently elected as the first African Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association. In their interaction, Mr Sekyi Hughes touched on the long-standing relationship between the two countries and said Dr Kwame Nkrumah of Ghana and Julius Nyerere of Tanzania, were involved in the establishment of the Organisation of Africa Union, now the African Union. Highlights of the visit of the delegation include a meeting with the leadership of parliament and studying the work of Ghana's parliamentary committees.

The group will also meet with members of the Parliamentary Press Corps to learn about the contribution of the media to the development and sustenance of Ghana's parliamentary democracy.
