Unauthorised sale of CNC vehicle sparks off trouble

Accra, Oct. 8, GNA - The alleged unauthorised sale of a serviceable vehicle of the Centre for National Culture (CNC) to an official of the regional office at Ho for his private use has sparked off a chain of disputes between the staff, resulting in a virtual breakdown in the promotion of cultural activities in the Volta Region.

Togbui Adala Adelakoe II, Regional Chairman of the Committee on National Culture, who disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Accra said the state of affairs, coupled with complaints from the district offices about the lack of logistics and requests by some of the officials to be transferred to other places, apparently to avoid being implicated in the rumpus, had greatly affected the smooth functioning of the CNC in advancing cultural activities in the Region.

He said he had requested the Regional Director to convene an emergency meeting of the Regional Committee on Culture at Ho on Friday October 13, to deliberate on the issues to help revamp cultural activities.

Togbui Adelakoe, who is also a chief of Weta, in the Volta Region said the agenda of the meeting would centre on mediating in a dispute between the Regional Director and his Deputy, between the Deputy Director and the Accountant and grievances of the District Cultural Officers.

He said efforts would also be made to retrieve the vehicle, which had been sold without authority.
