Tema, Jan. 03, GNA - The Ghana Child Welfare Association (GCWA), a non-governmental organisation based in Tema, has instituted a system whereby parents and people in distress could seek first aid for their injured children by making a phone call. The Ghana Telecommunications (GT) has given the NGO an emergency contact line for only receiving, which is 020-2015719, to support the programme. Launching the programme in Tema on Wednesday Dr George Puplampu, Founder and President of the GCWA, said during emergencies such as domestic accidents the attention given to the person formed 90 per cent of the success of his treatment. Dr Puplampu, a pediatrician, said the programme entails the narration of the emergency situation on the phone and he, as a specialist, would advice on the first aid for the child. He said the association had also been supporting the school fees of needy but brilliant children.
