Minister Apologizes for Lying Over Road Projects

Kumasi, Jan. 8, GNA - The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) has apologised to the chiefs and people in the communities whose road networks were mentioned by the Regional Minister as having been tarred in his address to the RCC on December 28, 2006 in Kumasi. In a statement signed by Mr J.M Dasana, Deputy Coordinating Director, the RCC the mistake to a mix-up in the Minister's address and "regretted the inconvenience and embarrassment that might have been caused to the affected communities".

Mr Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu-Ansah, the Regional Minister mentioned the Abono-Adwafo, L'sarb junction-Yabi, Afari-Nerebehi, Beposo-Wioso, Bonwire-Bamang and Atimatim-Buoho roads among others as having been tarred.
The statement said the affected roads were however, awarded on contract on November 29, 2006 for bituminous surfacing and work was expected to commence within the "shortest possible time".
