Sunyani (B/A), Jan 17, GNA- President John Agyekum Kufuor, has admonished students to eschew violent acts and other forms of indiscipline that could disrupt the academic calendar. He advised them to remain focused and concentrate on their studies no matter the difficulties they faced.
"There is a lot of life ahead of you and you must therefore use your time profitably", he said.
President Kufour said these when he addressed students of the Sunyani Polytechnic after the Jubilee People's Assembly held on Tuesday. President Kufuor went to the institution to inspect new faculties provided by the government through the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND) at a total cost of 45 billion cedis.
The projects are a 448 bed-capacity hostel, information and library complex with an Information Communication Technology (ICT) centre attached.
President Kufuor announced that access roads on campus would be tarred to save the students and lecturers the dust nuisance that they had been forced to live with over the years.
Professor Kwasi Nsiah-Gyabaah, the Principal of the Polytechnic, said the institution, the last to be established in the country, was grateful to the government for its tremendous support and facilities provided for the 5,000 students.
President Kufuor, who was accompanied by Papa Owusu-Ankomah, Minister of Education, Science and Sports and Mr. Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, later inspected construction work on the four billion cedis jubilee park in Sunyani.
