Dwomo (W/R), Feb. 6, -GNA-The use of a shabby shed by the Dwomo Early Childhood Development Centre (ECDC) had prevented several children from attending school.
Apart from this, the children aged between a year and four years, use a manhole that has a two by four inches wooden plank as their toilet. In an interview with the head teacher of the school, Madam Elisabeth Taylor, on Tuesday, she said presently there were 97 pupils in the kindergarten (KG) one 'A' alone, adding that due to the limited space the school and Parent Teacher Association (PTA) were compelled to erect the shed as a temporary measure.
She said the children are over crowded, exposed to direct sunlight, dust, noise, and distractions and could suffer injuries if the shed collapses.
Madam Taylor said the children presently do not have a canteen, neither do they have a place for rest or indoor games.
Madam Taylor therefore appealed to philanthropists, individuals and organisations to come to the aid of the school. According to one Ama Badu, she did not know that her two-year-old son could attend school and was waiting for him to turn five before going to school.
