Kyabobo National Park petitions President

Nkwanta, July 12, GNA- The Management and staff of the Kyabobo National Park in the Nkwanta District of the Volta Region, have appealed to President John A. Kufuor to ensure thorough investigations into the death of two members of staff in 2005, in a shooting incident and subsequent arrest of persons suspected to be the culprits. The petition, signed by Mr. Ahmed Antwi-Boampong, a staff of the National Park on behalf of the Management and workers, was channelled through Mr. Joseph Denteh, the District Chief Executive to the President.

It named the deceased as Ntim Obofuor and Paul Wanede Nyame, who were on duty on July 11 2005, and said the perpetrators of the crime were still at large.


The petition appealed to President Kufuor and the Ministry of the Interior to ensure that the criminals in the heinous crime were brought to justice.

It stated that the families of the deceased persons have identified themselves with the call by the staff and management of the National Park on the Police to bring the perpetrators of the crime to justice. The petition said the "families of Ntim and Nyame cry for justice, the Management and Staff of the Kyabobo National Park cry for justice, the people of Nkwanta, the Volta Region and Ghana at large, cry for justice".


In a related development, Nana Awuku Chaa II, the Chairman of the Kyabobo Management Advisory Board, in a press release in Nkwanta, condemned those who committed the crime and appealed to police to speed up with their investigations to bring the culprits to book. He said the National Park was a blessing to both the present and future generations, adding, "It has been recognised both at the national and international scenes and attracted various development projects into the district."
